Workshop on Short Video Production

Learn about the basics of iMovie video editing software and hear tips for making your project accessible to a general audience within the constraints of a short video. Students are encouraged to bring 2-3 minutes of video footage for workshopping and feedback. This workshop is recommended for students submitting a video to the Texas Student Research Showdown, and counts as a Research Communication workshop for the OUR Research Training Certificate.

Being Brief, Clear, and Still Feeling Like a Scientist When You’re Finished

Where do you start when you need to condense your research project into a brief talk? We will cover: determining the purpose of your research talk, identify and targeting your audience, choosing the most important parts of your research to communicate, and some basic brief communication structure. You will work with your own research project and by the end of this hands-on session, you will have a framework to help you further design your brief research talks. This workshop on the essentials of public speaking will be given by Dr.
