New CeDiplomas Bring Longhorns Post-Grad Ease

There’s no need to wait by the mailbox if you’re a member of the Class of 2024. For the first time ever, The University of Texas at Austin’s Office of the Registrar is offering Longhorns a Certified Electronic Diploma (CeDiploma), as well as a traditional paper diploma, when they graduate. CeDiplomas, which are a product of the University’s partnership with Paradigm, are official, highly secure PDFs that are identical to paper diplomas.

What’s the benefit of these digital credentials? “The CeDiploma allows graduates to share their degree information in a secure and verifiable way with their friends and family via social media and with future employers, certifying bodies and other universities,” explains Brenda Schumann, Assistant Vice Provost for Enrollment Services and University Registrar. Longhorns will receive their CeDiplomas after Commencement, at no personal cost, making post-graduation job applications and celebratory Instagram posts simpler than ever.

Already, Longhorns are providing positive feedback about the addition to their graduation package. “They’ve found the CeDiploma to be a helpful tool,” Schumann notes, “as they’re more readily able to share their diploma and degree information in an electronic format.” Students, as well as employers, can validate a CeDiploma’s authenticity on the Office of the Registrar’s website using the unique 12-digit code (CeDiD) that appears in the upper left-hand corner of the CeDiploma.

Current students aren’t the only ones who can take advantage of this new technology. UT alumni can order their own CeDiploma for $60 on My Reorder by selecting “Legacy CeDiploma”. That same website, which went live earlier this academic year, can be used to request a duplicate or replacement paper diploma.

University staff hope the CeDiplomas put new graduates one step closer to changing the world once they leave the Forty Acres. “We are thrilled to provide electronic diplomas to our Fall 2024 graduates and beyond,” says associate registrar Bethany Bell. She encourages those who want to learn more about CeDiplomas to visit the Office of the Registrar website. General degree and diploma information can be found at Texas One Stop.
