Reid Luedecke

Reid Luedecke

Major: Exercise Science
Graduation: Spring 2015

Reid was discouraged when he was denied admission into the College of Natural Sciences, but after his experience in UGS he was able to find the perfect balance between the two things he loves—science and health. Through Wayfinder, he was able to explore different areas he had an interest in and found his current major. Reid plans to pursue a career in physical therapy after graduation this spring.

Reva Davis

Reva Davis

Major: African & African Diaspora Studies
Graduation: Spring 2014

Reva entered UT wanting to be a lawyer, but she wasn’t sure what to study to reach her goal. After two semesters in UGS, she discovered her initial plan to study government changed to finding her passion and declared a major in African & African Diaspora Studies. After graduation she plans to join Teach for America and later pursue a career in law.

Ryan Simmons

Ryan Simmons

Major: Undeclared

Ryan’s stellar academic performance has earned him the title of College Scholar. Ryan initially planed to major in electrical engineering. While enrolled in Undergraduate Studies, he discovered passions for finance and accounting.

Sachin Chandiramani

Major: Economics
Graduation: Spring 2017

When Sachin got to UT he wanted to major in finance but after taking calculus classes he discovered his true passion lies in actuarial science. Sachin would like to work in either the insurance or consulting industries. He has focused on maintaining a good GPA and it has paid off—he was named a College Scholar in 2015.

Major: Education: Youth and Community Studies
Graduation: Spring 2013

Originally interested in majoring in math and doing the pre-med track, Taryn spent two semesters exploring her interests in UGS before declaring an education major.

Thomas "Trey" Grothouse

Thomas "Trey" Grothouse

Major: Undeclared

Due to Trey’s outstanding academic achievements, he is the first Undergraduate Studies student to be named a Distinguished College Scholar. Trey arrived on campus as a Health Science Honors-Biology student but transferred into UGS to explore his options after realizing he was no longer interested in becoming a doctor.

Truc Nguyen

Truc Nguyen

Major: Business (Corporate Finance)
Graduation: Spring 2014

Truc Nguyen spent two semesters in UGS exploring the ins and outs of business school before solidifying her decision to transfer into McCombs. Truc is incredibly active in the UT and UGS communities and has served as both an Honors Colloquium mentor and a First-year Interest Group mentor, in addition to numerous other leadership roles in organizations across the Forty Acres.

Valerie Finstad

Valerie Finstad

Major: Undeclared

Valerie’s outstanding academic record has earned her the title of College Scholar. Shakeel entered UT as an undeclared student in UGS to explore different fields. She now plans to major in biology, complete pre-med requirements, and pursue a career in research.

Victoria Gonzales

Major: Psychology
Graduation: Spring 2014

Victoria spent four semesters in the School of Undergraduate Studies. She quickly found that it provided her the space to explore majors, and she realized her interest in psychology.

Walter Zamora

Walter Zamora

Major: Investment Finance
Graduation: Fall 2013

Walter entered UT hoping to pursue a business degree. After three semesters in UGS and a semester as a corporate communications major, he successfully transferred into McCombs. He is the financial director for the UGS Council and was a FIG mentor.
