Exploring Majors and Road Bumps
I was torn between Marketing and Finance and had no idea what I wanted to do after college. I chose Finance because I felt it would give me a more well rounded view of business practices and a wider range of career opportunities with this degree.
Studying Corporate Finance
The business school is very competitive and this atmosphere constantly pushed me to work harder. The most surprising thing about my major is how many geniuses there are in the McCombs School!
Favorite Study Spot: The Life Sciences Library in the Tower, it reminds me of Hogwartz!
I am a member of Zeta Tau Alpha. When deciding my major, I talked to almost every one of my sisters that were in the business school. They gave me advice on everything from applying to transfer to scheduling my classes, even tips on acing an interview! Without their guidance and support, I would have had a much harder time transferring and staying on track with my degree plan.
I have interned with Tidbits, LLC Member Solutions, Gerson Lehrman Group Commercial, and Urbanspace.
I will be joining the Associate Development Program at Silicon Valley Bank in Palo Alto, CA.
UGS Experience and Advice for Undecided Students
The classes I took while in this program gave me a broader background in my studies, classes I wouldn’t have taken otherwise.
I would advise undecided students to be open to different areas of study and give yourself time to find your interests. Also, don’t be afraid to ask questions, because otherwise you will never learn.
