Studying Neurobiology
I initially chose human biology because I thought it would be the most interesting biology major. However, once I took neurophysiology, I decided to change to neurobiology because I was fascinated with the nervous system. I enjoy keeping up with current research in the field since it is rapidly expanding every day.
One of the most surprising things about my major is that there is still a lot to be discovered about the nervous system. Some facets of the nervous system are still a mystery, making it an exciting field to study.
Most Rewarding Class
My genetics class was the most challenging. I finished the class with knowledge and skills that were useful in other upper-division biology classes.

Student Organizations and Clubs
I participated in Alpha Epsilon Delta and Younglife. These organizations have had a tremendous impact on my life and Alpha Epsilon Delta helped guide me through the pre-medicine track.
Research
I aided a neurosurgeon with a couple of clinical research studies. We focused on the outcomes between different spine devices.
Post-graduation Plans
I will be attending the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio for medical school this fall.
Advice For New UGS Students
Take your time when you look into majors. Interests can change over time, but if you find a major that you love from the beginning, you will not have to take more classes than necessary.
