Evaluating Your Scores

Passing Scores

The TSI Assessment consists of three sections: reading, writing, and mathematics. The minimum TSI Assessment scores required to satisfy TSI requirements are

  • Reading: 351
  • Mathematics: 350
  • Essay score of 4 and multiple choice of 340 or higher; OR multiple choice of less than 340, an ABE diagnostic level of at least 4, and essay of at least 5

Developmental Education (DE) Diagnostic tests

If your score on the TSI Assessment is lower than the college readiness level, additional test questions provide information on your strengths and weaknesses and can help the advisor place you in the appropriate course.

Adult Basic Education (ABE) Diagnostic Tests

In addition to setting standards for college readiness, the state also set standards for adult basic education (ABE) levels. These are scores that roughly equate to below the ninth grade level in reading, writing, and/or math. Students who score in this area may need additional support before they take developmental education courses.

  • Reading: a score of 341 or lower
  • Mathematics: a score of 335 or lower
  • Writing: a score of 349 or lower

How do I get a copy of my test scores?

If you were not provided a copy of your test results, you can access them by completing the TSI Score Search Request and choosing the “email me my scores” option.
