Policies & Procedures

The following policies, and the procedures that facilitate their implementation, were reviewed by the Advisory Committee for the School of Undergraduate Studies and adopted by the Texas Success Initiative in January 2015.

UGS 309

  • Students taking UGS 309 to fulfill TSI requirements in reading cannot enroll in any history, government, or psychology course until they satisfactorily complete UGS 309
  • Students taking UGS 309 to fulfill TSI requirements in writing cannot enroll in RHE 306 or any writing flag course until they satisfactorily complete UGS 309
  • Students who take UGS 309 to satisfy the TSI reading requirement are required to take either GOV 310L, PSY 301, or HIS 315L in the long semester immediately following the semester they took UGS 309
  • Students who take UGS 309 to satisfy the TSI writing requirement are required to take either RHE 306 or a writing flag course in the long semester immediately following the semester they took UGS 309

DEV 303M

  • Students taking DEV 303M to fulfill TSI requirements in math cannot enroll in any math or quantitative reasoning flag course until they satisfactorily complete DEV 303M
  • Students who take DEV 303M are required to take a math course in the long semester immediately following the semester they took DEV 303M

NCBOs

Students enrolled in a DEV 000 course are restricted from enrolling in any additional courses in the area in which they are fulfilling their TSI requirements, i.e.,

  • Students taking DEV 000W to fulfill TSI requirements in reading cannot enroll in any additional reading courses (history, government, or psychology) until they satisfactorily complete their TSI requirements
  • Students taking DEV 000W to fulfill TSI requirements in writing cannot enroll in RHE 306 or any writing flag course until they satisfactorily complete their TSI requirements
  • Students taking DEV 000M to fulfill TSI requirements in math cannot enroll in any additional math courses or quantitative reasoning flag courses until they satisfactorily complete their TSI requirements
