Paul W. Hobby

Paul Hobby Paul Hobby is the Founder and Managing Director of Genesis Park, L.P., a Houston-based private equity firm, and most recently served as the Chairman & CEO of Texas Monthly. He is actively engaged in private and public investments across industrial intelligence, energy transition and communications investments. Paul currently serves on the Board of Directors for NRG Energy and FloTek and on the Board of Trustees for Baylor College of Medicine. He has also served as the Chairman of the Texas Ethics Commission, the Greater Houston Partnership, the Houston Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas and the Texas Business Hall of Fame.

Hobby graduated from The University of Texas at Austin School of Law in 1985, where he has served as an adjunct faculty member and was named an Outstanding Young Alumnus. He earned his B.A. in history from the University of Virginia in 1982. He has served as a prosecutor for the U.S. Attorney General (1989-91), was chief of staff for Lieutenant Governor Bob Bullock (1991-94), and was appointed by Governor Ann Richards to the Texas General Services Commission in 1994, serving as committee chair from 1995 to 1997.

Hobby served on UT Austin’s Commission of 125 and has been involved with the law school’s Foundation Board of Trustees, the Chancellor’s Council, and the President’s Associates. He is a life member of the Texas Exes.
