Jeff Tsai is Special Assistant Attorney General of California. He is a principal advisor to Attorney General Kamala D. Harris on criminal justice and corporate accountability enforcement policy. For almost eight years, Jeff served in the U.S. Department of Justice as Senior Counsel to the Assistant Attorney General for the Criminal Division in Washington, D.C., as a public corruption prosecutor with the Criminal Division’s Public Integrity Section, and as an Assistant U.S. Attorney and Deputy Chief at the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Miami, Florida.
Jeff started his career as a law clerk to U.S. District Judge Vanessa D. Gilmore in Houston, Texas, after which he worked in private practice in the San Francisco Bay Area. He earned a J.D. from Georgetown University and a B.A. from The University of Texas at Austin.
In 2014, Jeff received the Ex-Students’ Association’s Outstanding Young Texas Ex Award, an honor recognizing alumni under the age of 40 who have made significant career achievements and contributions to The University of Texas.
