Arjo has worked in venture capital, tech investment banking, and across a variety of entrepreneurial initiatives. He also founded and serves as Managing Partner of Convergent, an interdisciplinary program dedicated to product development and the relentless pursuit of innovation.
Stephanie graduated from UT with a B.S. in advertising, Elements of Computing certificate, and a Bridging Disciplines certificate in Digital Art & Media. She became involved with entrepreneurship through her internships at technology and advertising startups around Austin.
Conflict Resolution & Peace Studies BDP student Madison Kirk worked as an intern for Lifeworks, where she learned strategies for mediating interpersonal conflict and practiced advocating for clients in order to promote self-sufficiency.
Katie Kindle, focused on the Public Health strand of the Social Inequality, Health & Policy BDP certificate, conducted research on predicting and preventing the Zika virus, under the supervision of Dr. Sahotra Sarkar. She learned about the function of research in the creation of preventative measures for maintaining and improving public health.
Fatima Frausto interned with It’s Time, Texas, a non-profit organization that focuses on providing free programs tools and services to increase the number of Texans trying to live healthily, to complete her Social Inequality, Health & Policy BDP. There she learned about health promotion at the community and organizational levels.
How did you find your internship?
I think I found it at the Non-Profit/Government Internship Fair last spring semester.
An internship at The Contemporary Austin offered Children & Society BDP student Zoe Labos an opportunity to learn creative ways of engaging children and families with the arts, a concept she hopes to take with her in her future career as a Speech Language Pathologist.
How did you find your internship?
I found my internship online after searching “children arts internships.”
Thomas Hair completed his Environment & Sustainability BDP with an internship at Colorado River Alliance, where he worked with the organization’s communications and social media as well as led environmental education sessions for middle schoolers in Austin ISD.
Media, Culture & Identities student Madison Benvegnu analyzed representations of villains in animated Disney films, which led her to an exploration of the presentations of overarching themes of right and wrong and the need for villains in a story.
For her Creative Project, Jacqueline Hernández developed a series of artworks for her Digital Arts & Media BDP, depicting the signs of the zodiac using the Adobe Creative Suite which allowed her to hone her style as an artist.
