New Partnership Between Signature Courses and Blanton Focuses on Bystander Intervention
The Blanton Museum of Art and BeVocal, UT’s bystander intervention initiative, will collaborate in the fall semester to facilitate customized workshops for Signature Courses. The workshops will introduce students to bystander intervention using observational skills paired with carefully selected works of art in the gallery. The goal is to increase the odds of a student intervening to prevent harm while creating a culture of caring for each other’s well-being while also building critical thinking and visual literacy skills, oral communication, and empathy.

Spotlight Course: Really Bad Bugs
For the past thirty years at The University of Texas, the majority of Pat Davis’ teaching has focused on infectious diseases, with an emphasis on antibiotic treatment, and an audience of advanced pharmacy students. It was reading about the bubonic plague that kindled his interest in understanding the intersection between disease, science, religion, government, and societal beliefs.

UT President’s New Award for Global Learning
The President’s Award for Global Learning is the signature program of the International Board of Advisors (IBA), a select group of influencers, who together with the president and senior leadership of The University of Texas at Austin are working to expand UT’s global network. This new award combines academic coursework with experiential learning, giving students the opportunity to work across disciplines with faculty mentors and international partners.
