(Intertextuality Among the Roman Works of Pier Paolo Pasolini)
Please give a brief, simplified overview of your research project.
For my research project, I am examining the similarities that exist among Pier Paolo Pasolini’s early novels and films.
Describe the tasks you engage in as part of your work.
I read novels, watch films, write notes summarizing my observations and analysis, conduct secondary research, and confer with my advisor for guidance in my work.
Describe what you thought college might be like before you came to UT. Did you consider research when thinking about college?
Before coming to UT, I thought college would be an engaging, intellectual experience, but I associated research with graduate studies.
How did you get involved with your research project?
My professors encouraged me to pursue research in Italian. Professor Bini and Professor Olson have greatly helped me in this project.
Do you see your project connecting with your plans for your future?
I plan to teach high school English, and I intend to continue to study Italian. Independently pursuing lines of inquiry, seeking to better understand various facets of an author’s work, challenging myself to learn more about another language—the skills I am practicing in conducting this research will definitely serve me well in the future.
What is the most interesting or surprising thing you’ve gotten to do for this project?
Reading novels in the Roman dialect has been both interesting and rewarding.
