As of January 1, Mitch Jacobson is the new executive director of the Blackstone LaunchPad.
Alongside his role at the Blackstone LaunchPad, Mitch Jacobson is also the director of the Austin Technology Incubator (ATI) at The University of Texas at Austin. Prior to taking the leadership position at these two organizations, he was the lead advisor to all ATI energy companies.
“I’m looking forward to seeing what Mitch can do with the Blackstone LaunchPad,” said Undergraduate Studies Dean Brent Iverson. “He has the perfect background to run an entrepreneurship center because he brings a strong alliance with the ATI. We’ll be able to directly connect our students and faculty with the larger Austin entrepreneurial community.”
Mitch had a hand in building the $2.5 billion clean technology sector and ecosystem in central Texas over the last eight years. His 30 years in technology includes running European and direct sales for Dell and a $7 billion P&L for Tech Data Corporation as VP of Sales. Mitch founded the Eyes of Texas Partners angel investment group in 1999 and serves on the Board of Director/Advisors at The Nature Conservancy, the UT Environmental Science Institute, CleanTX, Texas Foundation of Innovative Communities, and EcoRise. Mitch earned a BSBA in business and marketing from the University of Florida. Mitch was recognized as the 2017 Volunteer of the Year for Economic Development from the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce.
