Announcing the 2023 Longhorn Research Poster Session Award Winners

Students talk at the Longhorn Research Poster Session

The Office of Undergraduate Research hosted the 2023 Longhorn Research Poster Session in the UFCU Room of the Perry-Castañeda Library on April 5. Over three sessions during the daylong event, students presented more than 150 research posters on interdisciplinary topics ranging from civil engineering to anthropology to neuroscience.

Thanks to a gift from Kimberly and Scott Martin, this year’s poster session offered awards for student presenters. Based on input from the academic colleges as well as on the submitted posters, students were selected as finalists for poster presentation awards. Presenters were judged on their statements of their research problems and methodology, their results and conclusions, and the poster design and oral discussion. These top presenters were selected for awards; judges also selected the recipient of a $500 award for poster design, and event attendees voted for a $1000 audience choice award.

This event was part of Research Week 2023, the university-wide celebration of student research and creative activity. This year’s other Research Week events include panel discussions, art exhibitions, and other poster sessions across campus.
