Theatre and Dance

Hometown: I grew up in Austin, Texas, but my freshman year of high school I moved to a small town in the Dallas-Fort Worth area called Waxahachie.
Current major & year: I’m a senior studying theatre and dance with a focus in playwriting and directing.
Resources used in deciding my major: When I came to college, I knew that I wanted to be a theatre student, but I was terrified that it wasn’t a “valid life choice” and that I was “confusing careers with hobbies,” as my high school college and career counselor so elegantly put it. Through the encouragement of my peers, my professors, my UGS advisors and career counselors, and lots of internet research, however, I ultimately made the leap into the major of my dreams. I owe The University of Texas at Austin the world for never discouraging me from doing what I’m passionate about.

Although I don’t have a ton of spare time between class, schoolwork, rehearsal, and my internship with the University Leadership Network, when I get a free moment I love to take a breather and relax with my best friends, including my cat, Nugget.
