“Taking an interdisciplinary view on my academic studies helped to shape my undergraduate and graduate career. It later formed a backbone for working in the real world…”

Discuss your general career path since graduating from UT.

After graduating with a B.S. and a B.A. from The University of Texas, I attended graduate school at the University of Minnesota for a Master’s of Healthcare Administration degree. I took a fellowship with a local Minnesota health system right after graduate school and have been working in healthcare since 2010.

How did your BDP experience influence your career path and interests?

Working in healthcare was a change in career path from my undergraduate degrees and my BDP. However, the BDPs did influence how I experienced the world.

What do you value most about your BDP experience?

I had the privilege of sitting on the BDP student cabinet. That was very rewarding in my final year at UT. I was able to make some higher-level decisions in that role.

In what ways did an interdisciplinary education prepare you for what you are currently doing?

Taking an interdisciplinary view on my academic studies helped to shape my undergraduate and graduate career. It later formed a backbone for working in the real world, where everyone is dynamic, unique, and interconnected. It shaped the way I communicate with people and understand their perspectives.
