Discuss your general career path since graduating from UT.
As a film and media composer, orchestrator, and pianist, I have collaborated with directors and composers including Terrence Malick, Hanan Townshend, Tanner Beard, and Bruce Faulconer. As a proponent for music education, I’ve co-founded Picardy, an interactive platform for developing musicianship skills. My current creative venture is helping others through my music. I’m working on creating compositions utilizing brain-based technology in collaboration with Austin’s Center for Music Therapy.
How did your BDP experience influence your career path and interests?
BDP was influential to my career path and interests because I grew a deep passion for film through the program. The people I met through the program have helped further my career as a creative and entrepreneur.
What do you value most about your BDP experience?
The most valuable experience with BDP was my internship. Through this opportunity I was able to connect and learn from music industry professionals about not only the process of composing for film, but also the process of marketing oneself. These lessons led me to where I am today!
In what ways did an interdisciplinary education prepare you for what you are currently doing?
It brought together all different passions of mine (music, film, people), and allowed me the opportunity to fit them within my coursework at UT.
