I started out searching for finance and accounting jobs, before I started to realize the potential I could achieve in sales. I was recruited to New York Life for my language skills to help serve the Latino markets in securing their financial goals.
How did your BDP experience influence your career path and interests?
I wanted a career where I could not only have the opportunity to use my language skills to have a significant impact on the quality of people’s lives, but also where I am free to direct my own business activities and strategies. Having put so much of my energy in my BDP and tasting that addictive sensation of setting your own goals and achieving them by your own means, I knew that New York Life would provide me with the tools and autonomy to succeed.
What do you value most about your BDP experience?
I learned that I had good ideas, as long as I am willing to back them up with action and determination.
In what ways did an interdisciplinary education prepare you for what you are currently doing?
In sales, you need to know your product first, and then everything else that can possibly add value for your client. My interdisciplinary education with the BDP was crucial in teaching me to expand my horizons as far as they could be imagined.
