Discuss your general career path since graduating from UT.
Since graduating from UT, I’ve gone to work at a local oil and gas law firm. After graduation, I knew I wanted to take some time off from school and get settled before moving on to graduate or law school.
How did your BDP experience influence your career path and interests?
My BDP experience sparked an interested in women’s reproductive health policy. I spent a semester completing a research project on women’s access to family planning services in Texas, which lead me to purse a career in policy and law.
What do you value most about your BDP experience?
I value the research experience I gained during my final semester the most. It was an invaluable experience getting to work with Dr. Hopkins in a field in which she is very well versed. I gained lots of insight and skills I will take with me for life.
In what ways did an interdisciplinary education prepare you for what you are currently doing?
Understanding multiple viewpoints is crucial to being successful. An interdisciplinary education prepared me for working in the real world with other people who may have differing views and opinions. I feel that I have also become a better critical thinker and am able to analyze information handed to me.
