What if I'm not Exempt?

Students who are not exempted from TSI requirements by other means must take the TSI Assessment.

If your TAKS, SAT or ACT scores exempt you from one or more sections of the test, you do not have to take that section of the TSI Assessment. For example, if you are exempt from the math TSI requirement, but not reading and writing, you will only need to take the reading and writing sections. Some students will need to take one or two sections, and some will need to take all three sections (reading, writing, and math.)

Your TSI Assessment scores will determine whether you will be required to enroll in developmental courses offered by the Texas Success Initiative. To learn more about the TSI Assessment, please visit our TSI Assessment Preparation page.

You should plan on taking the TSI Assessment before you attend Orientation. You can register for the TSI Assessment now.
