Scholarships and awards to support undergraduate research are available through the Office of Undergraduate Research and through colleges and programs throughout the university.
The Undergraduate Research Fellowship (URF) program provides support for specific scholarly research projects conducted by full-time UT undergraduate students enrolled in any department. These fellowships are intended to cover costs associated with academic research projects proposed and written by student applicants and undertaken with the supervision of a university tenured or tenure-track faculty member, lecturer, senior lecturer or full-time research scientist/engineer. Some restrictions apply.
Office of Undergraduate Research Awards
The Office of Undergraduate Research is pleased to offer Research or Conference Travel scholarships, which are awarded to select UT undergraduates to help them pursue research beyond Austin or present their work at a conference. These awards are offered in the fall and spring, and usually range from $100 to $600. Some preference is shown for students who do not have alternative sources of funding available to them. Students interested in applying should return the application form by the deadline of Friday, March 10, 2017.
The Office of Undergraduate Research offers two $1,000 Student Researcher Awards each spring. These awards directly support students as they enrich their current academic studies and future careers, and allow for students to participate in research opportunities regardless of financial ability. Interested students should return the application form, including a letter of recommendation from your faculty research mentor and a description of your project (5 pages max) by the deadline of Friday, March 10, 2017.
