The Academic Counselors Association (ACA) has awarded a staff development scholarship to Patricia Micks, the First-Year Experience (FYE) Senior Program Coordinator, for her dedication and commitment to academic advising. The scholarships are intended for professional development, and possible uses include conference attendance, tuition and/or books. Sarah McKay and Rose Mastrangelo, co-chairs of the ACA Awards and Recognition Committee, highlighted Micks’s dedication and commitment to supporting academic advising and academic support services at the university. Micks worked as an advisor in the Bridging Disciplines Programs before taking over the First-Year Experience office.
All paid ACA members who support the mission and goals of the academic advising community are eligible. McKay and Mastrangelo noted that this year’s applicant pool was particularly large and competitive.
