Governance

The Undergraduate College is governed by the Undergraduate Studies Advisory Committee (UGSAC), which is composed of six associate deans, six senior faculty members, and two students. UGSAC oversees all matters related to the 42-hour core curriculum and the Skills & Experience Flags.

The Flags are governed by the Faculty Council, which outlined the criteria for each of the Flags in the motion on Curricular Reform. The Educational Policy Committee of the Faculty Council oversees any changes to the Flag criteria. UGS is charged with interpreting the Flag criteria and administering the approval of Flags for individual courses.

UGSAC has delegated authority to other cross-college faculty committees to oversee each Flag. For more information about these committees, please visit our Flag committee pages.
