How did your BDP experience influence your career path and interests?
Both of my Connecting Experiences not only expanded my perspectives, but they brought me closer to professors who shared my interests. This created a wonderful educational atmosphere that inspired constant learning. Furthermore, at my first job interview, I shared a Connecting Experience project with the organization. I was later informed that it was that project that led to my hiring.
In what ways did an interdisciplinary education prepare you for what you are currently doing?
As a future resource manager, not only should I understand the functions of the resources at hand, but I should also understand the political system involved. I learned from the Bridging Disciplines Programs that the link between these two completely separate areas of study is just as important as the areas of study themselves. Due to this, I decided to pursue a master’s degree in environmental social science, the bridge that my BDP revealed during my undergraduate years.
